Just around when Bhaavya and I were talking about making jewellery, I had been working with some resin artisans in the suburbs of northern UP in India, trying to understand what they do and their general modus operandi. Since it was something new for me, I wanted to test a simple design, one that would allow me to realise the look and feel of the material. So I decided to get a 3” heart made, rounded on both sides. The resulting product exceeded my expectations in every way possible. When I received it, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. I felt bittersweet every time I’d pass it by sitting at my bedside, as if it was longing to be given to someone, you know?
Ever since then, jewellery, for us, had to be about that longing, about self expression. We couldn’t think of a better place to start than these hearts. They’re our version of a love song, at least what we feel they’re meant to be.
